The approval of the Global Pacts for Migration and Asylum of December 2018 in Marrackech put on the table several extremely relevant issues, although without a doubt, the impetus for a global governance of migration was the most novel of them all. This proposal came loaded with suspicion by several countries, especially European, that have perceived this document as an interference in their spaces of sovereignty. The different positions in relation to this issue within the EU were manifested not only then but had already made their appearance as a result of the humanitarian crisis experienced by the EU during the years 2015 and 2016. In this article we will address precisely which have been the proposals launched for the debate aimed at improving the common immigration policy related to border management.
