Abstract

One of the most attractive collections in the Complutense Veterinary Museum's collection is published in the communication. The Embryology collection has 57 specimens preserved in fluid. The successive conservation methods and species are described. These include rodents (rabbit and guinea pig), various species of production animals, suidae, bovids, small ruminants, fish, birds (hen and pheasant), companion animals (dog and cat) or wild animals (wild boar). It includes different successive stages of embryonic development and foetuses of some species. The collection was donated by the professor of the Department of Anatomy María José Blánquez Layunta in 2010 and was initially conceived for teaching in the Veterinary career. It has been possible to verify in the visits received the great interest that it arouses in the general public and especially in the school groups confirming the great informative capacity of this specific type of biological heritage.
