Abstract

Through a quantitative approach and a descriptive research analysis, this communication presents an application of the Rasch Model, as a technical tool for the construction and validation of specification tables for standardized tests. To measure the mathematical knowledges with which our students access the degree of Business Administration and Management of the Complutense University of Madrid, we have made an initial test, the first day of class of our subject, Business Mathematics. This test consisted of 15 items, based on the Syllabus of Mathematics studied in previous levels. The results obtained, from a sample of 300 students, have been tested through the Methodology of the Objective Measurement of Rasch, probabilistic Method of Measurement in Psychometry, which allows quantifying the degree of similarity between two different variables, the items of the initial exercise and on the other hand, the students who have participated in the study. The conclusions obtained will allow us to know which of these items best assess the knowledge of our students, with the aim of reviewing the questions proposed in future questionnaires.
