Abstract

The Greater Maghreb (North Africa and Sahel) is a relevant region for international politics. Since the so-called "Arab uprisings" the region has become a key zone to international security. The objective of this chapter is to analyses what is exactly happening in there: terrorist group's proliferation, more presence of transnational organized crime as well as illegal immigration. There are securitization processes that will be stronger in the future. The Greater Maghreb becomes today a southern flank that projects instability especially to Europe as well as to the entire world.
