Abstract
This essay analyse two political processes interrelated to the European Union territoriality construction process. First of all, the process through which border spaces have been renamed according to multiple discourses produced not only by European institutions, but also increasingly by local and regional governments, from older frontier areas. Secondly, the process through which European Trans-border Cooperation Program had promoted the political relevance of regional and local areas as local actors to the detriment of Nation-State. The methodological approach has been the documental analysis through relevant documents in a longitudinal study of transborder cooperation.
