Abstract

Dona Beatriz Ramirez de Mendoza (1556-1626) had an atypical attitude during he eventful life, where lineage and religion intermingled constantly. As an educated woman of energetic character and firm religious beliefs, she collaborated actively in the religious reform of the Trinitary and Mercedary orders, developing an intense role as artistic promoter. She spent the last years of her existence in the cloister so as to escape her multiple political and religious enemies.
