Resumen

La enfermedad COVID-19 es uno de los fenómenos sanitarios más devastadores de la historia reciente. Dada su reciente descripción, aún son muchos los aspectos sobre su curso clínico y su agente etiológico (SARS-CoV-2) que se desconocen. Este artículo pretende arrojar luz sobre algunas cuestiones importantes acerca de su posible origen y permanencia, así como sobre la producción de vacunas frente a su agente causal a través de un estudio comparativo basado en la información disponible sobre coronavirus animales, bien conocidos por los veterinarios desde hace casi un siglo.
