Abstract

The European Union encourages its Member States to adopt measures to promote multilingualism and to increase quality and efficiency in teaching languages from an early age. Based on this recommendation, this paper aims to find out if the study of German as an elective language in Infant Education modifies the target in bilingual schools in the Community of Madrid: students learn to communicate in English and develop their linguistic competence in both English and Spanish as part of CLIL methodology. The results show no significant differences between groups.
