At present the information as tool of the knowledge, it appears across different means and consequently indifferent supports. The philosophical conflict on the printed book versus the electronic book every time isclearer, at least it makes us be supposed, slats of clay, rolls and parchments, by thousand-year-old witnessesof whom still to the passage of time, the materiality of the knowledge, it is and it will be the most usual andaccessible form in which the cultures report, endorse, testify, discursen and realize of his to happen in thetime.Nevertheless it is necessary to continue looking for the ways of preserving the above mentioned informationand for it we invite to thinking about the binding.To bind in simple terms is the action to form and join notebooks, but the binding in his set, it is to givestructure, identity and protection to the manuscript and printed document.The multiple styles and technologies reveal also the history of the knowledge, therefore, the task ofidentifying and learning the binding, it strengthens the educational labor and contributes to establishingand developing lines of investigation that generate knowledgeIn the Faculty of Sciences of the Documentation of the Complutensian University of Madrid we go from 1999forming pupils and educational university students in the technologies of the binding, knowledgeundoubtedly necessary to understand the constructive and decorative structure of the binding andconsequently of the book.Thepresent study tries to establish the relation between the teaching and the investigation, and how thegiven teaching, by means of the courses of Constant formation and the Own Titles, has benefited from thediverse projects of investigation on binding carried out in the last years, and in turn how these projects, theyhave been nourished of newinvestigators, who have managed to obtain the necessary knowledge to initiatenew lines of investigation and to consolidate his academic and educational profiles.
