Resum

Since picturebooks came to light in mid-twentieth century, they have consolidated as a genre within children’s literature. Picturebooks are a very valuable educational resource for learning the mother tongue and additional languages. The combination of illustrations and text makes this resource ideal for the meaning comprehension, especially in Pre-school and lower Primary. In this presentation we focus on the creation of picturebooks for the teaching of English as a foreign language taking as inspiration music and/or art pieces. Focusing on several pedagogical experiences, we present how you can plan methodologies that stimulate students imagination and creativity to illustrate and write stories that will later be read in class. These methodologies are suitable to students of different ages and English language level.
