The object of this work is to evaluate whether the prescription of propacetamol in our hospital is adequate to defined criteria and to determine the saving that could be achieved if an alternative to propacetamol with a better cost/efficiency relationship would be prescribed. For such purpose it took place a transversal study. The most frequent indication was fever (44.8%), followed by post-surgical pain (30.7%). It was precribed in a patterned way 53% of the cases. Oral pathway was available in 87.6% of patients. Only 18.2% of treatments were considered appropriate by accomplishing 100% of the criteria and supposed a cost of 94,680 PTA (6.9% of the total); the rest 1,186,140 PTA (86.4% of the total), it might be considered a waste of expenditures
