Resumen

Objective: To know the demand of sanitary information by the users of the community pharmacy and to evaluate the link between the demanded information and the different sociodemographic variable. Methods: Sectional cross-descriptive study from 15th July 1998 to 15th September 1998. Individuals included on the study were users of community pharmacy of the Autonomous Community of Madrid that demanded information in those ones during the period of data gathering. The percentage of users that demanded information was estimated from the different sociodemographic characteristic and, after was calculated the association between those characteristics and the main demanded themes. Results: Out of the 1024 individuals of the sample, 29.4% were men and a 69.6% women, the ages of those that more information demanded were between 25-44 and 45-65 years. The most demanded topics were: 20.8% characteristic of the acquired drug, 11.8% cosmetic and dermatology, 7.2% interpretation of diagnosis tests, 6% pregnancy, and 5.5% diet and nutrition. Conclusions: There aren't systematic differences on the main reasons of demand of sanitary information in the community pharmacy as per the age studies' level, however referred to sex, women usually pay more attention than men in cosmetic and diet and less than men in physiologic parameter and anthropometrical indicators
