Résumé

The World Health Organisation and the World Organisation for Animal Health have developed in the last years the concept of “One Health”. The starting point is the idea of global cooperation between the different sanitary sciences with the goal to face the challenges of human and animal health.From this perspective, cooperation between professionals of different sanitary disciplines is key, as is the responsibility of Governments that require to carry out health policies to guarantee public health for people and animals. This governmental labour has been done in the past very differently on each country. In Spain, from the 19th century the idea of having a centralised Ministry of Health was present in the Administration, mainly because of the threat of epidemics that caused several crises.
