Abstract

Language textbooks continue to be an essential tool in developing learning and acquisition processes in second and foreign language teaching. Being aware of how this kind of materials are created and written may provide a better understanding of how they work, their potential and limitations, and help teachers to make decisions both to choose an appropriate textbook as well as to create their own classroom materials. This paper describes the stages of this process (defining the publishing project, writing, edition and DTP) and provides some insight into the impact of the decisions made every step along the way
