Résumé
The aim of this article is to compare the insurrections that took place in Vienna in February 1934 and in Madrid in October of the same year. They were both led by socialist parties -the only two instances in European history in which socialist parties took this kind of action-, both were based on the experience of communist insurrections, involving the action of a paramilitary organization together with a general strike. This article analyses and compares the paramilitary organizations, the plans and the insurrections themselves in both cities.
