Abstract
Given the institutional importance of the Constitutional Court (CT), rhetorical elements play a noteworthy role in the way in which this body states the reasoning behind its decisions. The object of this article is to analyze how the CT adds credibility to its discourse by the use of various methods for managing its own image, specifically, strategies of self-courtesy. To do so, the qualities Aristotle attributed to good orators (i.e., moral virtue, prudence, and benevolence) are used to classify the rhetorical techniques that buttress the construction of a Court image that is both credible and competent.
