Resum

The Homeric stories have had a very great impact on all literature. Roman culture, of course, inherited the legacy that Homer left as epics. However, the literature is not only recipient of the legends and myths, but also art, sculptural and pictorial representations. The discovery of Pompeii, the city buried by Vesuvius, will be the most faithful testimony and, even, only of pictorial art in the Antiquity, testimony, also, will announce the importance of Greek culture in a Roman city as an ideological vehicle, iconographic and transmitter of a common culture.
