Abstract
One of the applied arts that Lluís Domènech i Montaner intended to revitalize was the carpentry and woodcarving. The decorative program of the ceiling panelling of the Comillas seminary is undoubtedly the most representative example of this trade, for the splendid work of the manufacturers and the great symbolic repertoire designed by the architect. Antonio Sama analysis the iconography of the ceiling panelling defending the interpretation of the moral struggle that the seminarian had to face to achieve virtue and wisdom, rather than artistic representation of an Old Testament text which has been sustained by other authors.
