Abstract

The idea of “sex division of labor” is related with gender perspective and defines the division of public space (linked to male) and privet space (linked to female). Thus men -“bread winers”- are closed to productive work, while women -“housewives”- are closed to reproductive work (Izquierdo, 2003). Nevertheless, these roles aren’t permanent or static. Some things are transforming. This way, our paper analyzes “care”, a very specific part of reproductive work. We try to describe the context in current Western societies, to observe solutions taken by agents involved in domestic spaces, as well as to visualize the State and private companies role in solving conflicts and sharing responsibilities to promote a socialization of care. The idea is to focus, on one hand, on transformation trough care practices ans, on the other hand, to propose guidelines to (re)educate ourselves, to assume new practices related to care at both levels: micro (familiar) and macro-social.
