Abstract

This paper seeks to shed light on the conceptualization of game aesthetics from a poietic approach within the Game Studies field. As theoretical context two major research currents that determine game aesthetics are isolated and defined. The work expands previous aesthetics definitions and presents different cases of study related to paradoxes, dissonances and surprises resulting from the multimodality of the aesthetics of this emergent cultural and artistic medium.
