Résumé

The deployment of the live facial recognition technology for purposes of law enforcement implies a sensitive processing of personal biometric data. The recent investigation conducted by the ICO in the UK into how the police uses this technology enables to (i) determine the major risk scenarios and frequent areas of non-compliance; (ii) systematically distil relevant recommendations made by the English Authority which may result of interest for those Member States, such as Spain, which has not still transposed the Directive (EU) 2016/680, yet fully engaged in the deployment of this technology for law enforcement purposes.
