The role of spontaneous verbal repetition sequences as shared discourse in early linguistic development

Resumen

La repetición verbal espontánea forma parte de la interacción temprana adulto-niño, estando enmarcadas en el seno de conversaciones. Sin embargo, la mayor parte de los estudios sobre repetición ha analizado las repeticiones verbales infantiles y adultas de manera independiente. En este trabajo analizamos las secuencias de repetición verbal que se extienden en varios turnos en los que participan el niño y el adulto. Se llevó a cabo un estudio longitudinal de situaciones de interacción de 17 díadas adulto-niño entre los 21 y los 30 meses. Los resultados muestran que la frecuencia de estas secuencias disminuye con la edad, aumentando las repeticiones simples. Aun así, la participación en secuencias de repetición está relacionada con el desarrollo léxico y gramatical en edades posteriores. Se discute el papel que desempeña este tipo de repetición en la interacción temprana, ya que prolongan la atención al interlocutor y favorecen la construcción conjunta de las estructuras lingüísticas.
