Abstract
As established by Law 44/2003, of November 21, on the Management of health professions,(1) specialized training in Health Sciences is a regulated training thataims to equip professionals with the knowledge, techniques, skills and attitudesof the corresponding specialty. The Mental Health Nursing Specialty is one of seven specialties currently recognized under Royal Decree 450/2005,(2) of April 22 and has a training program according to Order SPI/1356/2011(3), of 11 May. The current training program defines the nurse specialist in Mental Health as “the health professional who, with a responsible scientific attitude and using the appropriate clinical and technological means for the development of science at all times, provides sepecialized mental health care through the provision of nursing care”.
