Factores que influyen en el emprendimiento sénior en Chile. Una perspectiva desde el GEM

Resumen

Objetivo: el objetivo de esta investigación es identificar cuáles son los factores internos que contribuyen al emprendimiento sénior (+55 años) en Chile y su comparación con un grupo de países seleccionados de América Latina. Metodología: para lograr el objetivo anterior, se realiza un análisis basado en la Adult Population Survey (APS) del Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) de 2016 y se utiliza un modelo de regresión logística, aplicando diferentes variables sobre el TEA (Total earlystage Entrepreneurial Activity). Resultados: la investigación muestra que la ocupación, el nivel de educación, la edad, el conocimiento de otros emprendedores y la confianza del empresario en sus propias habilidades son las variables fundamentales para explicar la TEA de las personas de mayor edad. Limitaciones: este estudio no considera la perspectiva externa, que refleja cómo el entorno influye en las intenciones emprendedoras. Implicaciones prácticas: sobre la base de los resultados de esta investigación, los gobiernos pueden comprender mejor los factores que deben tener en cuenta al configurar las políticas de apoyo a la actividad emprendedora en este sector demográfico. Además, esta labor contribuye al desarrollo de los conocimientos sobre la actividad emprendedora de las personas mayores en el país y a la identificación de las mejores prácticas que se pueden utilizar en otros países.
