Abstract

Within a research project on existing wax pieces at the Complutense Veterinary Museum, authorship of such anatomical models has been approached. As a preliminary study, we present some data on a figure of the greatest importance in veterinary ceroplastic, Cristóbal Garrigó (1799-1863). The value of this anatomist and sculptor and his contribution was already considered in the work of Sanz Egaña. Appointed Vice Professor of Anatomy in 1828 and Constructor of Pieces and Anatomical Disector of the Veterinary School of Madrid in 1832 he dedicated more than thirty years to the elaboration of models and pieces of wax that considerably enriched the Anatomical Cabinet of the School. He collaborated in the teaching of anatomy in the Veterinary School, made skeletons and other pieces of the Cabinet. Present communication presents biographical and academic data and provides new details on its formation, production of works and contributions to the ceroplastic
