Resumo

The municipal ordinances of the Extremadura villeages of Magacela (1499), Zafra (1528), Mengabril (1548), Villalba de los Barros (1549), Cañaveral (1552), Solana de los Barros (1554), Plasencia (1558), Hervás (1616 and 1887), Llerena (1632), Villanueva de la Serena (1753), Jerez de los Caballeros (1758), Cáceres (1891), Mérida (1902) and Don Benito (1928), were analyzed with the purpose of identifiying their regulatory contents in matters of veterinary activities, grouping them into three periods: XV-XVI, XVII-XVIII and XIX-XX centuries. It was verified that in the first two, there is a clear predominance of the regulation focused on issues related to the livestock, and gradually aspects on food supply and of public health were increasing significantly.
