Abstract
Published in Córdoba between 1947 and 1949 and 1954 and 1957 in two different seasons, Cántico. Hojas de poesía joined several poets (Ricardo Molina, Juan Bernier, Pablo García Baena, Julio Aumente and Mario López) who opted for a different poetry to fashion trends at the time, the formalism from Garcilaso and existentialism that would derive in social poetry. The proposal of Cántico is based on a careful care of language, the search of beauty in all its forms, the subtle mixture of religious devotion and pagan exaltation of pleasure, among other characteristics. All this condemned the group to abandonment by critical, editorial and academic power centres, constituting a kind of island during its being. This work aims to trace the influences that foreign poetry exerted on the Cordovan group through the translations appeared in the magazine, as well as in the later individual trajectory of the poets.
