Abstract

A revision of the Iberian directional archaeomagnetic data catalogue covering the last three millennia has been carried out, incorporating recent results still unpublished. The new catalogue is made up of 200 archaeomagnetic data exclusively from the Iberian peninsula. The new catalogue still presents some temporary gaps that should guide the future work. Data from the first Iron Age and Late Roman- Middle Ages are specifically required. Based on the new Iberian database a Palaeosecular Variation Curve (PSVC) for Iberia has been determined by using the bootstrap technique. The new PSVC is consistent with the synthetic curve generated by the regional model SCHA.DIF.3k, with the time constraints mentioned above. The study was completed by incorporating to the input database, all results included within an area of 900 km radius centred in Madrid. The incorporation of data from southern France and north of Morocco, significantly improves the database (440 data) and the new curve obtained do not show major temporary gaps. It can be considered as the new PSVC for Iberia for the last 3Kyrs.
