Abstract

Most of agricultural commodities are inelastic in essence and quite stable year to year. This is because changes on consumers behaviour are produced gradually. This has an important effect on the agricultural markets since crop yield variations produce changes on the agricultural commodities supply, and this can derive on significant changes on market prices. This can be enhanced by the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) health check since incentives oriented to enlarge the competitiveness of the agrarian sector can be included. As a result of this context, farmers uncertainty is high with respect to both production and market prices. In addition, agricultural insurance sector experiences a high uncertainty about the risk premium and the farmers tariffs that should charge.
