Abstract

The Refugee Crisis has become one of the greatest political issues in Europe for the last two years. In addition to its demographic consequences, the management of that by European Union institutions is undermining some of the EU ́s values which have traditionally tied to integration process and Human Rights. This crisis has been approached by mainstream Spanish media, from the security focus rather than asylum and human rights approach. The aim of this work is to study the narratives set in motion by two main newspapers in Spain in the last two years —El País and ABC—. Ultimately, we wonder how discourses about refugee crisis have changed, moving from a humanitarian focus into Securitization framework
