Abstract

The aim of this work is the comparison of the stratigraphic architecture of the first sinrift sediments (Bijuesca and Ciria Fm) of the Tithonian-Berriasian interval in the Bigornia and Bijuesca Troughs, two antithetic structures whose main difference is the orientation of the alluvial systems. The Bigornia Trough has a structure with a main normal fault and transfer secondary faults which divided it. These faults show that the hanging-wall rotation was enough to develop a drainage area in the roll-over. However, important transfer faults have not been identified in the Bijuesca Trough. This shows that the hangingwall rotation in this structure was not so marked, so no drainage area developed on the rollover, and fans coming from the footwall controlled sedimentation. This difference could be due to the fact that the Bigornia Trough was located nearer to the Central Cameros Basin, whereas the Bijuesca Trough was located further, in an transition area between the Cameros and the Aragonian domain.
