Resumen
El estudio de los determinantes de la presencia de mujeres en los consejos de administración ha sido un tema relevante dentro del estudio de la diversidad en el gobierno corporativo. Este trabajo pretende contribuir a la falta de estudios centrados en los factores complementarios y sustitutivos que afectan a la diversidad del consejo de administración. Utilizando un enfoque configuracional, pretendemos entender si hay factores cuya combinación hace que se produzcan unos niveles de diversidad en los consejos por encima de la ‘normalidad’ del mercado, habitualmente influenciada por la regulación existente. Empleamos una metodología de comparación cualitativa para estudiar posibles combinaciones de relaciones causales que conducen a una presencia significativa de mujeres consejeras en empresas cotizadas. Encontramos diferentes patrones por combinación elementos como el tamaño de la empresa, el tamaño del consejo de administración, el grado de independencia del consejo, la estructura de la propiedad, o la exposición pública, que pueden ser de utilidad tanto para entender el fenómeno como para el diseño de programas de diversidad orientados a la composición de los consejos
