Abstract
In this paper we present part of the results obtained in a research on the use of basic colour categories (BCC) by people with abnormal colour vision. In Spanish, as in other languages, there are 11 BCC (white, black, red, green, yellow, blue, brown, pink, orange, purple and gray). In this survey, it was used a set of surface colours selected to sample all the BCC adequately. According to the behaviour of protanopes and deuteranopes, 1) we describe the use of BCC performed by these kinds of observers and 2) we evaluate different alternative hypotheses about such a use.
