Zusammenfassung

In 2015, the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Diseases (ISSVD) defined Vulvodynia as “vulva pain of at least three months duration, with no clearly identifiable cause, but which may have potentially associated factors”, including psychological, genetic, inflammatory or neuroproliferative factors. Vulvodynia is associated with many diseases, including physical disability, limitation of activities in daily life, sexual dysfunction, and reduced quality of life; in addition to other psychological implications such as anxiety and depression. However, it is poorly studied and underestimated, and a multidisciplinary approach involving healthcare professionals from various specialties is required. HYPOTHESIS AND OBJETIVES: It is hypothesized that an accurate diagnosis of vulvodynia associated with an understanding of its risk factors and social and personal characteristics would improve knowledge of this disease, the clinical condition, and quality of life of these women.
