Abstract

Social cognition impairment determines a large part of the loss of functioning and quality of life in patients suffering from schizophrenia. In recent years, different interventions have been developed aimed at improving social cognition, with promising results in terms of social cognition, social skills, and social functioning. Some of these interventions use virtual reality (VR) as a basic work tool.The present thesis has the general objective of investigating the area of new VRbased psychotherapeutic interventions aimed at improving social cognition deficits in patients with schizophrenia. It includes eight journal articles, structured in five sections. The first two articles contain systematic mapping reviews on psychotherapeutic and pharmacological interventions aimed at improving social cognition in any pathology.
