Resum

This doctoral thesis is delimited by a topic whose research three axis are music, cinema and education. Taking this into account, this work aims to check the importance that music acquires in human being's life, not only to integrate humans in social life but also an essential element in education. All this is going to be done through the vision that we can find of music and the music teaching-learning processes in the cinematographic field and in all the different audiovisual representations. The aim of this thesis is to analyze, describe, interpret and compare the image of the music from the educational point of view in films in which its plot is based on itself or in films where music takes an important role. For this purpose, a bibliographic revision is going to be done in all the different areas in which this investigation is based and some films are going to act as a sample. All these films are going to allow us to assume a fair position and to draw conclusions. On the one hand, this thesis combines both techniques from social sciences and human sciences due to its interdisciplinarity. All the information included in this work comes from a documentary review due to the necessity of knowing all the previous studies that had been carried out. On the other hand, a method which comes from a sample formed by different film products and reflect contexts of musical education. All this previously mentioned have been done by the comparative method. The results allow us to check how the cinema, especially the "commercial cinema" have some stereotypes in different times and nationalities. The stereotypes that have been found allude to the teacher (in some cases very motivated and adopting a heroic attitude) and to the learners (they, through the music, get to know their own personality and they face difficult situations for them). However, the cinema can be fiction for the purpose of the show. This thesis shows both the positive and the negative aspects related to the cinema. The cinema and, in conclusion, all the cinematographic codes are pure art as a result of the time that we are living and due to its popularity among all the audiences, the cinema is creator of culture and knowing. As a result, it promotes exchanges in culture, idiosyncrasy, ideology and values. This study will allow teachers to work with their students all this cultural aspects, giving them the chance to find new aesthetic dimensions and to understand, to reflect and to adopt a critical stance
