The University Time Bank (UTB, hereinafter) are a socio-educational tool aimed at strengthening the social fabric of the university through a structure that generates social relations, establishes supportive ties and promotes trust among the university community. The objective of this research was to analyse the knowledge that the students have about the use and educational implications of the UTB; as well as the perception they have about their levels of self-concept and social competence in relation to the development of participation and social cooperation activities. A survey methodology was used and a questionnaire was designed that was applied to 158 students from different Education degrees. The results obtained indicate a lack of knowledge about the UTB, as well as a lack of values in relation to trust, empathy, socialization and the development of attitudes related to sharing and supporting others. As a conclusion, the need to undertake actions aimed at the dissemination of the UTB and the development of educational initiatives aimed at favouring collaboration and solidary participation of the educational community is highlighted.
