Résumé

The author, by judging the concrete case of the translators of the Iliad into Spanish, shows how translations become old and have to be replaced by modern ones. But the also realizes that, paradoxically, these ones pursue a certain appearance of antiquity. So, besides the involuntary 'ageing' of old translations we find a voluntary 'ageing' in the modern ones. Here is where the author tries to develop the concept of 'ageing' and tries to delimitate the areas of both sorts of 'ageing'. The title, metaphorically, refers to this paradox. An up-to-date list of the translations of the Iliad into Spanish is also established in this work
