Resumen

A susceptibility analysis of co-seismic landslides in the Murcia region has been carried out by means of critical acceleration evaluation (above which permanent displacement occurs), at a regional scale using a GIS. The susceptibility has been estimated through comparison of the critical acceleration (Ac) with the highest strong movement data for a 475 yr. return period. The analysis shows that for this seismic scenario there are wide areas susceptible to have some kind of mass movements. These areas correspond to outcrops of rocks, of middle strength, located in relatively steep slopes (20º-30º), where the topographic factor plays an important role, provoking rock falls and slides limited by discontinuities planes. There are also susceptible areas with gentle slopes (<10º), that coincide with deposits of soft soils, where lithological amplification has a big influence, causing shallow slides and lateral spreads.
