Resumen

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between facial morphology and upper airway permeability, using naso-pharynx tracings on lateral skull radiographs. 195 lateral skull radiographs were traced on 94 patients with normal occlusion and 101 patients with Angle's class I malocclusion. Results show no correlation between upper airway permeability and mandibular rotation in children with normal occlusion, but did show a significant relationship in Angle's class I malocclusion group. Likewise, a proportional increase between Iower anterior facial height and mandibular rotation was found in the class I malocclusion group, associated to a decreased in upper airway space.
