Résumé

Introduction: Mandibular canines shows an unusual tendency to migrate to the opposite side of the jaw. Classification procedures and theories and have been proposed to explain this rare phenomenon. The aim it is to present a clinical case of surgical removal of a transmigrated left mandibular canine, as well as to carry out a review on this rare condition. Clinical case: A 25-year-old female patient attends the Oral Surgery and Implantology Service of the Virgen de la Paloma Hospital, referred by her general dentist for the presence of dysesthesia. After radiographic examination, a transmigrated canine, type IV, is observed. The patient is informed about the indication for surgical removal, under local anesthesia, and proceeds without complications. The evolution was favorable, dissapearing the initial lip dysesthesia. After the intervention, the dysesthesia associated with the transmigrated canine was resolved during the first month of the postoperative period. Conclusions: Transmigrated canine is an infrequent event, clearly observed with the current radiographic techniques. Its early diagnosis is essential for proper treatment planning and to avoid future complications.
