Zusammenfassung

SWI&Tiny Earth, a ground-breaking initiative of Universidad Complutense, consist of the search of new antibiotics produced by bacteria to fight against the disturbing crisis caused for the lack of effectiveness of many antimicrobial treatments due to bacterial resistance. This initiative has been so successful that 25 Spanish and 5 Portuguese universities have been incorporated. Nowadays, the Tiny Earth net is composed by 30 teams. In Spain, Tiny Earth was introduced as a Service-Learning project to deal with the global health problem of the multiresistance to antibiotics. Its main objective is to approach scientific culture and biomedical research to young students to promote scientific vocations by experimental activities managed to the isolating of new antibiotics produced by microorganisms from the soil.
