Resum

Objectives. Identify the knowledge of the social health workers in the city of Coimbra about the Living Will (LW) registry. Know their implication in the advance planning of the decisions. Methodology. Cross-sectional descriptive observational study aimed at hospital social health workers assigned to the University Hospital Center of Coimbra (Portugal). The sample universe is used, whose N=57. A descriptive analysis is carried out. Results. 34 professions participate. No one plans LW with the patient in the last year. Only an average of 0.52 (Sd. 0.50) knows where the LW registry is located in Coimbra. A mean of 6.23 (Sd. 2.80) considers religion an obstacle that the patient must face in order to carry out his LW. Conclusions. This study demonstrates the deficit of health social workers on LW planning. Despite exercising reporting functions, other health professionals initiate the procedure with the patient.
