The aim of this paper is to make a theoretical review of the learned helplessness phenomenon in man and, further, to explain its nature. Deficits, ethiology, treatment and prevention, are analysed from the point of view of the attribution theory. Although this theory about helplessness seems fit, many problems are still arise against its approval; in fact, the learned helplessness phenomenon is not actually well known. Furthermore, in order to clarify the intervening processes in such phenomenon, these authors have built an algorithm of it, and it is argued that, from now on, the framework provided by the Psychology of Thinking must be paid more heed
