Abstract

This article tries to extend the behavioural assessment basis and techniques to the field of mental deficiency, given the lack of practical tools of this sort. The main objective of this research work is to design a method that will satisfy the aspects of assessment, behavioural diagnosis and follow-up. The method intends to: a) comprehend each one of the behaviour areas needed to promote a full assessment of behaviour in mentally deficient subjects; b) fulfil the main psychometric demands, as well as facilitate continuous assessment. Finally, the article presents a behavioural system of assessment and diagnosis of mental deficiencies that satisfies all the main requirements already mentioned, leaving the �validity of treatment� of the system to be studied.
