Resum
Basin analysis of the externa1 zones of the Betic Cordillera between Cazorla and Hellín applying stratigraphic and tectono-sedimentary criteria on the Kimmeridgian to Upper Albian sediments allowed to differentitate three sedimentary domains. These were named Meseta, Albacete and Prebetic, following previous models established more to the east. The study of lateral relationships of these domains evidence that they form severa1 blocks separated by NW-SE transfer faults. Thus, the area occupied by each domain in every block is very different. Besides, tectonic compression, differential extension and palaeogeography during the Lower Cretaceous were the major controlling factors of these differences.
