Abstract
Antarctic glaciers make 90% of the Earth ice. They represent therefore a basic climatic control element, and also the only complete record of the glaciation the Earth is experiencing during the last 40 Ma. Though the mass of ice is the model ice sheet, all glacier subtypes are found in Antarctica. Scientists are amassing a considerable amount of data pointing out that antarctic ice is now entering a phase of growing instability.
