Abstract
Humor has been studied by many authors with regard to psychoanalysis. The part that the ego and the superego play in the humorous activity, infantile game and its survival in adult age, the need of overcoming the suffering by mean of humor. In the American cinema it is easy to see that the codes of humor are similar to the ones that authors observe in general in humor. It is not the same in Western Europe cinema in which the comicality is ruled by very different keys mainly due to the political circumstances these countries had had.
