Abstract

The author explains her intellectual journey as a sociologist and a feminist. This journey began in Spain in the context of the last years of Franco’s regime and the period known as the Transition (towards Democracy), roughly from 1975 to 1982. The primary goals of this exercise are to: I) show knowledge of the subject matter in a given context; II) analyse the author’s influences and their roots (particularly French sociology and American Feminism); and to III) highlight several «unnamed problems» of Feminist Knowledge (by opening up the black box of Gender Studies). These objectives could be condensed into two: namely a theoretical goal which would show the social determination of any given knowledge (in this case Gender and Production of Knowledge) and a political and/or action objective to criticise and change some of the limits of Feminist Knowledge.
