Abstract

Organizations need to have tailored information, timely, practical and useful, thus becoming an essential resource that affects the right decisions. Within organizations there is a huge amount of potential information users who need it to be informed about all aspects of their environment that influence their work. These users find, on one side a large number of heterogeneous and dispersed information and on the other the drawback of lack of time to find and personally select what they need. The main source of this information are the media, specifically newspapers and magazines, in both versions print and online. In this situation, an information on demand is needed obtained on time and with a reasonable cost. This article presents the results of a research conducted in 2010 over Andalusian companies and institutions to identify, evaluated and assess these information needs and see how the use of such information improves productivity.
